I never even thought about that but that is so true. We probably would not have the Foo Fighter's without the demise of Nirvana. Never looked at it in that way before.

You can say the words "sell out" all you want, but everyone has a different definition of them. I enjoy the Foo Fighters greatly and I have loved seeing Grohl grow as a musician. And seriously -- if you were offered millions of dollars to do what you love and what you're good at, you'd do it. So would I.

I really don't think that anybody is a "sell out". If I could get paid for playing my music, I would do it in a heartbeat, no doubt about it. Musicians need money too.

Getting paid to make music is not the issue of selling out though. It's when so called "artists" put getting a pay check (or fame) ahead of making good music, and upholding the ideals and beliefs that are often portrayed through the music.

I don't think I would call Dave Grohl a sellout though. He seems to be very passionate about what he does.

Exactly what I mean -- everyone's got a different definition of what a sell-out is. So I sometimes think it's lame when people don't like an artist and refer to them as a sell-out. I'm not trying to be confrontational at all. I'm just interested in why Wicky thinks Grohl is a sell-out.

Ah, okay I think I get what you mean. My interpretation has always just been kind of like how a lot of kids are saying that anybody who goes on the radio, or even MTV is a sell-out for doing so. They want to keep them lesser known I guess. I suppose everybody does have a different opinion of what it means, and who is considered a sell-out.
