Default Artist

Do you consider yourself to be an artist? What exactly do you consider an "artist"?

An artist is someone who can manipulate things to create beauty. These "things" could be words, music, paint, whatever. So I guess yea, I consider myself to be an artist.

Why do they have to create beauty?

An artist is someone who creates art, art is pretty much undefinable.

good point - i don't think it has to be beauty - but i DO think it has to be a piece of information, more specifically a memory or more so - an emotion.

I agree something should be expressed, whether it is an opinion, emotion, or a new idea concerning what is and isn't art.

Often art is defined as something manipulated(/created) by the artist for the purpose of being looked at/being art, and is not functional. obviously there are exceptions and different approaches though
