Default That was pretty disappointing...

I guess i had my hopes up but the show wasnt that great. Vancouver seems to have the worst audiences, and dallas really seemed to notice and didnt seem to want to be there, the setlist wasnt great - not a cover, black lungs and sleepercar were unimpressive, apart from Wade's last song and the 7" never showed up. the crowd could no hold a clapping beat for a whole song and not a person sang when he asked them too. and like last time i saw him he's ruined Day Old Hate. The live album version is stunning but he's sped up the tempo and it sounds very rushed and forced. Apart from a few words to the crowd he spoke even less than the previous time and i think if he was into it Wade would have come out and played a song or two with him. I'm really starting to agree with the White Stripes on their choice to not use a set lists - they are terrible, crowd suggestions mean shit, and its all pre-planned. overall, a VERY sub-par show. shitty fans, pretty average performance, shitty setlist and no energy to speak of.

What is it with him? It's like, in the UK he's so energetic and lively and well, into it. But whenever I hear of him playing shows in Canada/States, it's like...well, sounds extremely boring.

I agree with you about the crowds. The Vancouver crowds are always terrible and I always apologize after shows when I see him, because it really does seem like people don't care that he's there, but then there are people like me who wait months and months to see him. But seeing him in Victoria the next night was great. He interacted more with the crowd. He got the entire crowd to do the wave twice. He told a story or two more. It seemed like he enjoyed himself a bit better the 2nd night.

However, I do totally disagree with a few things that you said. Sleepercar was great. Both nights they were amazing, bit more in Victoria especially during one song. No one made a sound but Jim, and during Wednesday Nights he just poured his soul into the song, at the end stood 2-3 feet from the mic and just gave it his all. At the end of the song he thanked everyone and told us he would remember those last 5 minutes for the rest of his life. I also disgree with you about the setlist. It was fine, could have been a song or two longer. But it was a good mix of old and new songs. I liked how he did the solo songs.. and Sometimes was the best I've ever heard it. He sang Black and Gold in the middle and did these amazing things with his guitar at the end.

Here's the setlist... which was the same both nights. I was hoping he'd switch it up since he does have more material now, but I don't see that happening.

Forgive Me
The Death Of Me
Sam Malone
Waiting...
Sometimes
Save Your Scissors*
Sleeping Sickness
Constant Knot
The Girl
Day Old Hate*
Hello, I'm In Delaware*
What Makes A Man*
As Much As I Ever Could
-----------------------------
Against The Grain*
Comin' Home (w/ Dan Under at the Victoria show)

* = Dallas performs solo.

Oh and also, Dallas came out about an hour after each show had ended (don't listen to security if they say he's left, they pulled that at the Van show and it was a total lie) and stayed until every person got a picture/hug/autograph.. whatever. He was great about all that. You could tell he was tired though, what a great guy. I got hugs both nights. It was so cute at the Vancouver show, when I went up to him he stuck out his arms and was like Hey Trace! (which is my name) I just about died right there. I mean I kept my cool but later walking to the car with my friends I had a freak out and jumped up and down and danced around the street. I knew he knew my name from before, back in Oct 06 (even then i didn't tell him my name.. thank you myspace haha) when I met him, but I hadn't talked to him since then, so the fact that he remembered my name made me feel so happy and so special.
