Wink Official Canadian Recap thread

Maybe we can try and contain our excitement to one or two places lol.

It was probably the best night of my life despite having to piss the entire time and having a splitting headache by the end (probably a mix of tiredness and too many bright flashes).

I was really impressed with Black Lungs, Wade put so much heart into the performance and made a lot of jokes. Sleepercar pretty much blew me away because I didn't know what to expect and they put on an awesome show and sounded great (I don't even like country).

City and Colour was also great. I'm going to have to admit that I liked the songs with the band more than solo. It seemed there was a whole new dynamic and I think the version of Sam Malone they played is my favorite I've ever heard (so if anyone has a video I want it).

The set list was the same as the last ones though, but he played "What Makes a Man" with Dan Under (who also came out for Comin' Home during the Encore). When I saw the harmonica though I was sure it was gonna be Body in a Box but oh well.

The crowd was also awesome, no one was disrespectful during the openers and there was some decent banter when Dallas played (even the "funny guy and girl" weren't too bad). No one demanded to hear songs played and everyone clapped/sung along when asked. A spontaneous clap started up here and there.

that was a lot longer than I wanted to type and is probably not going to be read by anyone.

=) I read it, don't worry.

I agree with just about everything you said. Dan Under came out and sung Comin' Home in Victoria..

As for my review, I've posted things in several threads.. so I won't repeat myself.. but it was so good that two times wasn't enough for me.

I always love on-stage/between song banter.

Yeah it made for some good laughs. It was pretty funny when he talked about when he played here with Alexisonfire (because where he played is possibly the sketchiest bar in town and you could tell he thought that).

Sadly I didnt' stick around to talk to anyone though. Mostly because I'm way too shy and have no idea what I would say. Also because I was really tired and would probably come off as a prick like I did when I bought a cd from Jim Ward.

I feel so left out.

I'm kicking myself now for not getting online fast enough to buy tickets for the Toronto show.

Aw, thanks.
But with hotel fee's and gas alone, I can't afford it.
I'm still hopeful for that U.S. tour!

It's pretty expensive going to other places to see him. My friend and I split the cost going to Victoria.. Ferry alone was 138, which we split 69/69 (one paid going there, one paid coming back) Luckily we stayed with my aunt and uncle otherwise that would have been like 100 on top of ferry and gas was like about 50 bucks... all for 24 hours. haha.

Not to mention, I'm going to Vfest to see him play in Calgary. Well that's totally worth it because it's Dallas, Matt Good, Attack in Black and The Hip.. so that right there is worth the 300 flight over to Calgary and then the 85 dollar ticket for the one day. And again, I'm lucky cause I'm staying with someone. I've got one of my good friends coming in from Toronto.. so that's even more expensive for her. But again... totally worth every penny.

It's totally worth it, but I just don't have the means to do it, haha.
I have no job & I'm literally broke.

It's pathetic.

& The fact that tickets to see him up in Canada are expensive.
