I saw Dallas and company yesterday on day 2 of the Calgary Virgin Festival. He was on at 5:00ish, followed by Matt Good and The Hip.
Set was about 50 minutes, to be expected at a festival show. Crowd seemed pretty into it. Huge reaction to, not surprisingly, a cameo from Gord Downie during Sleeping Sickness (That is the first time we've done that, said Dallas.) That was a pretty cool moment to see the song complete with both of them. Dallas in typical humor for him goes "We should have saved that for last" based on the audience reaction. But they also reacted really well to the set closer Coming Home. And amusingly, no save your scissors in the set. Overall, V-Fest was pretty awesome. Nothing like being outside listening to music with 17'000 other people under a beautiful June sky. The Jack Singer show a few weeks ago was better, because it was a full CAC show and Dallas didn't talk much because he only had so much time. But it was great to see him again and he fit right in with the day. |

I was there for only two people.. Dallas and Matt Good.. I watched Stars set which was amazing even though I knew none of the songs. Dallas gave me chills, my friend from Toronto had never seen him play before and she got chills aswell. I wasn't too impressed with the festival though. Too many drunk fucks ruining it for other people. Not to mention rude little 15 year olds actually telling me to fuck off as I was trying to LEAVE the front row by the barrier. One of them actually said "Fuck you, you aren't the front of the line police" pretty clever eh? I accidentally elbowed him super hard in the back while I was trying to leave.
I got a video of the performance of Sleeping Sickness... it's in the Media section.
