I like going to plays on occasion. I went to some for extra credit for classes in college and enjoyed them a lot.

In college, Theatre wasn't my major, but it was where I spent all my time. I'm thinking of pursuing a Masters degree in theatre as well. So, live theatre is a good thing and everyone should support it.

I saw Tartuffe for a class in my undergrad. I really enjoyed the play.

It's true. Ticket prices generally are ridiculous. But it's such a great experience! Where is the public's sense of culture?*

*It's sitting on the couch watching "Dancing With the Stars."

HA!
I have nothing against that show in particular (I watch my share of garbage on TV). Sadly, though, there's been a real decline in higher-minded entertainment. People like to shut down and be entertained, rather than think about what they're observing. I love theatre and I enjoy symphonies and I like to read a lot of non-fiction.

(That's not to say that the other stuff is bad, but in my "perfect" world, there would be a balance.)

I have not been to the theatre in years. I really enjoyed it when I did go. My husband is not into the theatre so I just haven't really got the chance to go. I wanted to see Phantom of the Opera. Maybe this summer I can catch it.

Phantom of the Opera is a pretty decent show. I got to see it in London and it was good. What city would you see it in?
